As you can read in the story linked below, legislative leadership has agreed to extend reinsurance for another year -- through 2022.

This is a big victory, as the House was strongly opposed to extending reinsurance. It was not included in their omnibus commerce bill and they opposed multiple Senate offers to add it.  

But in the end, we prevailed and the reinsurance program will continue to fight another day in the 2022 session.

The grassroots efforts by NAIFA members to contact their legislators helped maintain the pressure on lawmakers to keep reinsurance.

NAIFA members can be proud of their successful efforts to retain reinsurance and protect their clients from rate shocks.
